White Mesa sets tenth walk against nearby uranium mill
White Mesa's Ute community will hold a tenth spiritual walk on 17 October against the Energy Fuels uranium mill. The route is about five miles, from the community centre to the plant.

Somerset AGR Hinkley Point B passes to NRS for dismantling
On 2 October 2026 ownership of Hinkley Point B in Somerset moved from EDF Energy to NRS, part of the NDA. The two advanced gas-cooled reactors had been shut since August 2022 and emptied of fuel.
Hitachiomiya mayor accepts literature survey on high-level waste
The mayor of Hitachiomiya said on 30 September that the city will accept a literature survey for a final disposal site for high-level waste. A Tokyo radio programme discussed the decision on 1 October.
All Castor containers placed in Brokdorf interim storage
All Castor containers have now been placed in the interim storage facility at the former Brokdorf nuclear power plant in Germany. The most recent transports to the site had attracted attention in June.

ANFA meeting vows to resist AUKUS reactor waste on First Nations land
More than 60 ANFA members met in South Australia's Flinders Ranges on 14–16 August. Speakers said remote First Nations land in SA, WA and the NT is being considered for highly radioactive submarine-reactor waste.
NWS releases September metrics on waste kept from LLW disposal
NWS published the September 2026 waste-metrics dashboard on 2 October 2026. The notice says those figures track waste kept from the LLW Repository and the programme's environmental results.
Hinkley Point B passes from EDF to UK decommissioning body
On 1 October 2026 the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority took Somerset's Hinkley Point B from EDF. Nuclear Restoration Services will run the station, and about 250 staff are moving with it.
NDA refreshes rules for storing packages of intermediate-level waste
Industry guidance from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority was updated on 28 September 2026. It was first issued on 7 December 2021 and describes one method for safe storage of intermediate-level waste packages.
Viterbo mayors back studies rejecting national radioactive waste repository plan
Viterbo's provincial council and assembly of mayors unanimously approved studies rejecting the planned national radioactive waste repository as designed. Forza Italia's Montalto di Castro branch welcomed the move.
